Introducing the Nurturing Initiative for New and Experienced Foster Carers

Published 17 May 2023

Are you considering becoming a foster carer, or looking to move to an Ofsted Outstanding agency that truly supports its foster carers? We're excited to share some great news with you!

Here at Affinity, we understand that the first three months of becoming a foster carer can be a challenging and emotional journey. To help our foster carers thrive during this crucial period and beyond, we are rolling out a new, nurture-led initiative across all our areas.

Our pilot program has already begun in Essex, where our dedicated Nurturing Lead, Mandy, is providing an extra layer of support for both new and experienced foster carers. Mandy is passionate about creating a welcoming and nurturing environment for everyone in our foster carer community.

Some of the ways Mandy is making a difference include:

  • Organising coffee mornings - These informal gatherings are a fantastic opportunity for foster carers to connect, share experiences, and build friendships in a relaxed and supportive setting.  By creating safe spaces for foster carers to share their challenges, victories, and concerns, Mandy helps to foster a sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding within the community.
  • Building support networks - Mandy actively encourages the development of strong connections between foster carers. This not only offers emotional support, but also provides a practical network of resources and advice.
  • Empowering foster carers - Our activities are driven by the needs and ideas of our foster carers, ensuring that our support services are tailored to the unique experiences of each individual.
  • Providing extra support for carers facing additional challenges - No matter how long you've been a foster carer, there may be times when you need a little extra help. Mandy is always available to offer guidance, encouragement, and resources.

We believe that our nurturing initiative sets us apart even further and demonstrates our commitment to creating a supportive environment for every foster carer.

If you're considering joining our foster care family, we invite you to experience the warmth and encouragement that comes with being part of our community. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of the children and young people in our care.

Are you ready to join us and make a difference? Please get in touch with Floria, our Fostering Recruitment Officer contact, to learn more about becoming a foster carer and how you can benefit from our nurturing initiative. We look forward to welcoming you to our community!
