Denise Robins - Director
As a Company Director of Affinity Fostering Services it's incredibly satisfying to be part of the Agency's early years achievements. To secure an 'Outstanding' OFSTED rating in the first year of operation, was an amazing feat, especially taking into consideration the fast growth of the company during this period. OFSTED’s report highlighted so many positives about Affinity’s practice and is a true and independent view of Affinity’s ethos, practice and values.
Affinity is keen to continuously improve its service to our Carers, Children and Young People and Local Authorities. Growth is planned to enable the agency to offer a range of placements, but the Agency will stay small enough to care and offer an individual service. We pride ourselves on being innovative, creative and offering a quality service to Local Authorities, Staff, Foster Carers, Children and Young People.
Carole Carter - Director
As the Registered Manager/Director of Affinity Fostering I am so proud we have maintained our Outstanding grading from OFSTED. I believe that this is a testament to our excellent staff team and brilliant Foster Carers who all go the extra mile for the young people that we look after.
We are now in our fifth year which seems incredible and we continue to go from strength to strength, working with a wide range of Local Authorities and both experienced and new Foster Carers continuing to join us. Our looked after young people continue to strive and achieve beyond what we ever could have imagined, well done to them all.
We have great plans for the forthcoming year which will hopefully show our staff team and Foster Carers how really valued they are and there will be much fun, along with lots of hard work of course to ensure we remain Outstanding.
As a Principal Supervising Social Worker, I am pleased and privileged to be working with Affinity's Foster Carers and for an OFSTED rated "Outstanding" Agency.
All our Foster Carers are supported and valued for their work with looked after children by everyone at Affinity. We celebrate the children and young people’s achievements and are looking forward to our Summer 2016 activity holiday for our looked after young people. Affinity is an active vibrant place to work where new ideas are embraced and we always look to ways to help young people become settled and to "enjoy and achieve".
I have worked as a Supervising Social Worker and Form F assessor within the public, voluntary and independent sectors for over 20 years now. It is always a pleasure to see the children thrive and grow in foster care. I know this can only happen by dedicated Foster Carers who are thoroughly supported and confident to carry out their role. Supervising Social Workers have small caseloads so we can work closely with Foster Carers and the young people I have worked with Affinity colleagues for many years and know that I am working with a like minded, child centred and professional team.
If you are thinking of applying to be a Foster Carer and want to join us , then please don’t hesitate you will be warmly welcomed, appreciated and feel part of a great team- right from the start and throughout your fostering career. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
Karen Good - Head of Business Services (HR)
Where do I belong? Here at Affinity working for such an innovative, committed and person centred organisation makes every day a ‘worthwhile’ day. Affinity has achieved so much recruiting excellent and valuable Foster Carers and Staff Team Members alike. Everybody has worked so hard to ensure that ALL young people that become part of Affinity’s Family have such positive experiences, full of so much love, care and support allowing them to achieve what they may have thought, or think is, unachievable. Where else will you find Social Workers and Young People tobogganing together!!! "Outstanding in ALL Areas”. #PROUD.COM
Gayle Rand - Finance Manager
I am extremely proud to be part of the Team at Affinity Fostering Services. It’s a privilege to be able to work for an agency that provides the very best support for its Foster Carers and outstanding care for the children and young people placed with them.
With over 20 years of experience in Finance, 13 of those being in fostering, I am pleased to be providing the skills and assistance required to enable the smooth running of Affinity.
As Finance Manager, along with all the Team, I am responsible for providing a high level of warm, friendly, quality support. Finance is often an area that causes concerns to Foster Carers and/or Local Authority Social Workers, but I am here to help.
No question or query you may have is too small, so please don't hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to working with you!
Denyse Lillington - Senior Social Worker
I began my career working as a Residential Social Worker in Children’s homes in 1980, studying for the Diploma in Social Work, which I achieved in 1993. I worked as an Inspection and Registration Officer for over eight years and as part of that role have inspected Fostering Services across London and the surrounding areas.
Having started as an Independent Social Worker completing Form F Assessments, I moved on to join the Affinity Team part time in 2014. I love working with our wonderful Foster Carers and the young people placed with them. I continue to support and supervise amazing existing and new foster carers. I particularly like being part of a strong, committed team at Affinity and enjoy developing the service with training opportunities and keeping up with natural changes that make the agency so outstanding.
I have been married for just over 20 years and have two teenage children who keep me fully entertained and energised!
Linda Curtis - Senior Social Worker
I started with Affinity in April 2015, after searching for the right position for many months. Having had the pleasure of working with some of Affinity’s established team members in the past, I Jumped at the chance of working with them again. I now feel that I have come ‘home’ and am here to stay!
I feel that Affinity is a company of integrity and I am proud to be part of everything that they are striving to do for the young people whom are placed with our great bunch of foster carers with the goal of achieving positive outcomes.
I have worked in the field of social care since 2000 and for the independent fostering sector since 2005. During this time, I have witnessed the enormous difference that good foster care can make to a young person. It gives me great job satisfaction to know that I will be working alongside our foster carers to support them in giving the best care possible. I have also fostered previously myself and therefore understand some of the challenges that foster carers may face. Affinity has a great ‘family’ feel, where everyone is valued. Prospective Foster Carers whom can offer dedication and a good home to a young person will be warmly welcomed into the fold.
Lesley Day Smith- Senior Social Worker

I thrive when it comes to working with the Young People and really enjoy getting the opportunity to build up a trusting relationship with them all. Some of my experiences include Zipwiring, Dry slope ski-ing, Fencing and a three day activity weekend just for the kids!!I am also involved in providing extra support to parent and child placements when needed.
Since joining Affinity in January 2014 I have met some fantastic Foster Carers and tremendous Young People. I am so privileged to have got the opportunity to expand my role at Affinity and to be part of an ‘Outstanding’ Team.
Vicky Sellen - Children's Participation Leader & Support Worker
I feel privileged being part of Affinity's friendly team, as the Children's Participation Leader/Support Worker for their Foster Carers and young people in placement. Denise Harrison – Office Manager
Hi everyone, my name is Denise Harrison. I am the mother of two grown up sons and I have three adorable grandchildren (although I might be biased on this point).
I joined Affinity in 2016. I have over 40 years’ experience in secretarial/administration and have been with an independent fostering agencies since 2010. I am very privileged to have been invited to work for this professional and dedicated company, and I have also previously worked alongside existing members of staff, Karen Good, Linda Curtis and also Lesley Day-Smith.
Varsha Jeremie - Supervising Social Worker
I have worked with some of the Affinity Team Members in a previous role and could not help but be impressed at their commitment, enthusiasm and determination to get it right for the children they look after.
As a previous Foster Carer and as a child of Foster Carers I became very aware of the impact fostering has on birth children.
So I was delighted when joining Affinity I was given the opportunity to lead a birth children’s group.
This is so typical of the Management Team in Affinity you come up with an idea and if it benefits the children we are up and running.
So happy to be a part of the Affinity family.
Shannon Cunningham - Supervising Social Worker
Affinity have provided me with such a great experience right from the start. I have already spent a year with this amazing team, they have supported me through my final year at university giving me such great opportunities when completing my final placement.
Now I am a fully qualified social worker, I will be supporting foster carers to the best of my ability. Due to the foster carers looking after young people, I will be working alongside them to ensure the children’s best interests are being met. All members of the Affinity Team ensure that the children are put first. The Foster Carers make sure they go the extra mile when supporting young people in their care.
I am proud of being part of an ‘Outstanding’ Team and cannot thank them enough for giving me this great opportunity.
John Hoffman - Practice Manager
I am really looking forward to working in the Affinity team- The practice manager role will help me work closely with the whole team and I look forward to building future success with Affinity.
Julie Ward - Senior Supervising Social Worker - Lincolnshire
‘I started working at Affinity in November 2017. To say that I am passionate about fostering would be an understatement!
I have been a Supervising Social Worker for the past 14 years. Prior to this I was a Looked After Child Social Worker and I saw the difference that excellent and supportive Foster Carers made to the lives of children and young people in their care.
I was a Supervising Social Worker for a private fostering agency in Essex, where I was fortunate to able to work alongside some of Affinity’s current team and Foster Carers. Then we decided to have our countryside adventure, and moved our family to the wilds of Lincolnshire. This has been home for the past 9 years.
